Congratulations to Aiden Smith on being named one of the Students of the Week for October 21st. Aiden Smith is more than just a high-achieving student and athlete. As a dedicated football player, Aiden has proven his ability to excel under pressure, balancing his academic commitments with the demanding nature of playing varsity sports. Aiden's work ethic on the field is only matched by his dedication in the classroom. Beyond his physical and intellectual efforts, Aiden shines as a selfless contributor. Whether helping teammates or supporting friends and family, he consistently puts others before himself. Ultimately, Aiden embodies the qualities of leadership, character, and service that we always look for in our students. His dedication to growth and helping others makes him a role model for his peers, not just on the football field, but in every aspect of life.

Congratulations to Kaiden Nair on being named one of the Students of the Week for October 14th. Ms. Leitman states: Kaiden is a calm, quiet force of leadership in our school and surrounding community. This morning, I opened Pride News to find an exceptional video reminding students that it's okay to not be okay. So many of us are facing challenges and feeling overwhelmed. The video highlighted that everyone's "hard" is different and that's okay too. Although, I've never had Kaiden as a student, it has been my privilege to work with him in National Honor Society. Kaiden consistently goes above and beyond, always representing himself and East High in the most positive way. He's always looking for ways to help his peers, school, and community. His genuinely kind heart makes him a force that I will miss next year, after he graduates. The impact Kaiden has had on our clubs is lasting and, for that, he deserves to be recognized.#LionPride

This morning, I opened Pride News to find an exceptional video reminding students that it's okay to not be okay. So many of us are facing challenges and feeling overwhelmed. The video highlighted that everyone's "hard" is different and that's okay too. Also, let's talk about the Cross Country Commentary, which he started as a freshmen (presumably on his own). It's something so simple, but I look forward to it each week. Although, I've never had Kaiden as a student, it has been my privilege to work with him in National Honor Society. Kaiden consistently goes above and beyond, always representing himself and East High in the most positive way. Last year, Mr. Fischer and I asked Kaiden to speak at the NHS induction ceremony. When he was given his part of the script, he drafted a very polite email to us and said, "this doesn't really sound like me, how about this... " This is Kaiden to me. He's always looking for ways to help his peers, school, and community. His genuinely kind heart makes him a force that I will miss next year, after he graduates. The impact Kaiden has had on our clubs is lasting and, for that, he deserves to be recognized.

She has gotten many peers to participate in the activity and is constantly communicating with them to make sure they are all up to date! Not only has she chosen fantastic songs and dances, but she has asked for peer perspectives to make sure each Hispanic culture is on display and celebrated in the process. Sean Lawson was nominated for Student of the Week by Ms. Wynn. Sean went above and beyond by lending his Sony headphones to a fellow student whose headphones had broken. His act of generosity, especially to a peer with special needs, reminds us of the incredible impact that simple acts of kindness can have in our community. 💙 Thank you for showing us what it means to be compassionate, thoughtful, and inclusive. You’re helping to make our school a better place for everyone! Congratulations, Sean. #LionPride

Congratulations to Aidan Fitzwilliam on being named Student of the Week for October 7th. Mrs. Loutzenhiser reports: I could write a full paragraph on how great Aidan is in Health class - how he participates, gets along with peers, is fun to talk to, how he gave me a coupon for a free car wash, etc. But, what I really want to highlight is one particular moment in the Monday, September 30 JV soccer game against Ladue. During the 2nd half of this game, the Lions were down 3-0 and Ladue was pounding on our defense which included Aidan, the starting center back. There was a cross that came from the left side of the field and Jay Loutzenhiser, the starting left back, tried to deflect the ball out of bounds but, instead, deflected the ball into their own goal. Immediately, Jay showed all signs of defeat - he dropped down to a crouched position, his head went down, and his face went into his hands. Being down 4-0 it would have been really easy for his teammates to point fingers and blame Jay. However, Aidan went right over to Jay, pulled him up, and said "You're good. Get up. It's not your fault." That one simple act showed so much about Aidan's true character and what true sportsmanship looks like. Picking a teammate up during their time of need. So simple and yet, so powerful. Thanks, Aidan, for demonstrating what a true teammate and leader looks like. #LionPride

Rayka Barbosa is one of the Students of the Week for September 30th. Rayka always comes to school with a big smile on her face and ready to work, no matter how bad of a day she is having. She always tries to cheer up others if she sees they are down, and brings a smile to everyone around her. Rayka will also translate words and phrases into Portuguese for us, and help her peers make outside pop culture connections to the academic material. She is a great student and I am so glad to have her in my class! Congratulations, Rayka! #LionPride

Congratulations to Natalie Carter on being named one of our Students of the Week for September 30th. Natalie Carter is the ideal business student at Fort Zumwalt East. On top of operating a successful business, Natalie is participates in PPI, Softball, CAPS, and much more! Logan Lucas is one of our Students of the Week for Sept. 23rd. His teacher states: In addition to always engaging well in class discussions and encouraging others to do so through his example, Logan has shared some of his abilities in creating 3D printed sculptures that are pure pieces of art. His talent is on par with any that I've seen in production of sculptures of this type and found natural tie ins to our class discussion that made sharing and updating me on his progress of these projects sensible. I'm thankful he's provided me the opportunity to develop a relationship with him, and to get to see a window into is life beyond the classroom. Congratulations Logan! #LionPride
