Six teachers selected for Symphony program

It’s National Arts in Education Week and we thought we would start the celebration with a S/O to some of our music educators. Congrats to DuBray Middle band instructor Katheryn Fenske, North Middle/North High orchestra instructor Jenina Kenessey, West High orchestra instructor Daniel Mieloch, East High band director Rick Padgett, Westhoff Elementary music teacher and orchestra instructor Emily Satterfield and DuBray Middle orchestra instructor Chris Torretta, who have been selected for Extra Credit on Stage at Powell Hall. The teachers have the opportunity to rehearse and perform side-by-side with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Conductor Norman Huynh.

“The benefits of music education in our schools are numerous and well documented,” says SLSO’s Maureen Byrne. “EXTRA CREDIT On Stage at Powell provides an opportunity to celebrate the educators who inspire the effort required by their students to learn to play an instrument and perform successfully in an ensemble.”
